climate policy REPORT

This confidential client needed to understand how the enhanced Safeguard Mechanism and other climate legislation in Australia would affect their company and sectors of interest - including steel, concrete and carbon capture. Climate Connect delivered a detailed, yet concise, report covering Australia's climate policy, how it impacts these sectors, and how the client could leverage this legislation for opportunities in the decarbonisation space. As part of the report, Climate Connect provided an analysis on the Net Zero pathways and levers used in Australia's steel and concrete industries.

NET ZERO WORKSHOPs

TPG Telecom has demonstrated a strong history of climate leadership through their Climate Active 'felix' brand, establishing a 100% renewable energy target, their aim to set emission reduction targets with the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi) and enduring support of Australian and international carbon markets. To progress their decarbonisation initiatives, the 'felix' team needed to understand GHG accounting and carbon markets in more detail. Climate Connect provided a series of workshops to upskill their teams and inform decision making. Topics included GHG accounting, carbon neutrality compared to Net Zero, how to assess the integrity of carbon projects and an understanding of supply / demand dynamics.

In house support crew

Like many companies in Australia's industrial sector, this confidential client had limited resources dedicated to the important task of understanding how they could engage and participate in the Net Zero transition. They needed to understand the rapidly evolving topic of corporate climate action, recognise what risks they would need to mitigate and what potential opportunities would be available for them to leverage. Due to their lean operations, the leadership team engaged Climate Connect as an in-house sustainability and climate support crew. Climate Connect's consultants upskilled the client's teams on climate policy, carbon neutrality, carbon markets, emission reduction levers, decarbonisation pathways and climate communications. In collaboration with the leadership team, this client prioritised their sustainability initiatives and developed a roadmap to achieve them. The project also included implementation of tools and processes required to deliver this climate action in line with the company's vision and Net Zero targets.

corporate climate action

Better Business Partnerships (BBP) is an Australian council funded business sustainability program. They provide independent advice and support to help businesses achieve sustainable success. In partnership with BBP, Climate Connect helped develop the knowledge and content for their Net Zero workshop. This workshop was aimed at empowering companies to understand their impacts on climate change and how they could improve their climate action and sustainability outcomes.

Educating Future Generations

The University of Technology Sydney (UTS) provides courses on sustainability and the environment, and is active in climate action for universities. They've developed a climate positive plan which will see the university achieve net zero and climate positive by 2029. To educate students on the corporate and industrial context of climate action and carbon markets, UTS sought an experienced consultant to deliver a bespoke workshop. Climate Connect delivered an informative workshop for the students with a focus on innovation in the decarbonisation space and leveraging corporate climate action to achieve positive outcomes.
